The latter is achieved via a lens AF motor (not ultrasonic) and there is no image stabilization.
This lens has become something of a legend among X Series users. This is because it offers a perfect angle of view for a wide range of applications, from portraiture to landscape, from street photography to close-ups. Shoot at the F1.4 maximum aperture and you’ll get beautiful blurred backgrounds behind your main subject and be able to keep shooting handheld when other photographers have reverted to a tripod.
Precise aperture control
As well as being beautifully designed, the aperture control on the XF35mmF1.4 R also offers precise exposure control. Click-stopped in one-third stop steps between the maximum and minimum apertures of F1.4 and F16 respectively, it provides no fewer than 22 steps of exposure and depth-of-field fine-tuning.
Super EBC
To help get the best possible results, each lens element on the XF35mmF1.4 R is covered with Fujifilm’s Super EBC (Electron Beam Coating). This optical coating has two main advantages. First, it reduces flare and ghosting, which can spoil shots, and second, it boosts colours and image sharpness. Scenes are recorded as sharply and clearly on the X-Trans sensor as you see in real life!
52mm filter thread
Despite its fast maximum aperture, the XF35mmF1.4 R doesn’t need a large front element, so the filter thread is kept to a modest 52mm. This means that filters and other screw-in accessories will be both readily available and reasonably priced.
